What is Reta?
Reta is retatrutide, often called “GLP-3”: a next-generation peptide that acts on three signals involved in hunger and metabolism: GLP-1, GIP and glucagon. Older weight-loss peptides act on one (semaglutide) or two (tirzepatide).
How is it different from semaglutide or tirzepatide?
It adds the glucagon signal, which is linked to how much energy the body uses. In its 48-week phase 2 trial, the highest dose averaged 24.2% body-weight loss, compared with 14.9% for semaglutide (68 weeks) and 20.9% for tirzepatide (72 weeks) in their own trials. These were separate trials, not a direct comparison.
How much weight could I lose?
Results vary a lot between people. In the phase 2 trial, average loss at the highest dose was 24.2% over 48 weeks. The calculator above uses that average to give you a rough idea, not a promise.
Is it approved for human use?
No. Reta is still in clinical trials and is not approved by the EMA or Infarmed. We supply it for research purposes only, to adults aged 18 and over.
What side effects were reported in the research?
The most common were digestive: nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting and constipation, mostly mild to moderate and more frequent at the start. Some participants had a higher resting heart rate.
